ATTITUDES AND PERCEPTIONS USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE BY MANAGEMENT, SECRETARIAL AND TOURISM STUDENTS IN PORTUGUESE HIGHER EDUCATION

Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a disruptive technology that nowadays has countless applications and higher education institutions need to adapt their curricula. Studying students attitudes and perceptions toward AI can be useful for analyzing what changes in AI teaching need to beimplemented. The purpose of this paper is to empiricallyexamine the attitudes and perceptions using Artificial Intelligence by Management, Secretarial and Tourism students in Portuguese higher education institutions and their implications in their area. Data were analyzed by employing exploratory and confirmatory analysis extracted from 193 students from various higher education institutions. The majority of higher education students use AI frequently, although the majority didn´t had mandatory training in their curriculum, a high percentage consider that AI enhances the learning experience, provides personalized feedback and improves academic results. Data also revealed that the majority of students in the areas of Management, Secretarial studies and Tourism consider it´s important to have AI training into their degree curricula and a big percentage consider that some professional profiles in these areas can be replaced by AI. AI education should be expanded and improved, because student’s are aware of the AI impact on their education and future careers, although their current knowledge has been limited due to lack of training on their curriculum in higher education.
