Paper Title
Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Semantics in Biomimetic Design Education: Enhancing Generative Design Capabilities
Abstract
This study aimed to develop a teaching method for a semantics course that guided biomimetic design using artificial intelligence (AI). By exploring linguistics through the lens of AI, the research integrated human language studies with machine learning, examining language forms, meanings, and environmental contexts. The analysis generated comprehensive outputs, such as images and symbols, via AI drawing software. The study found that ChatGPT can analyze word formation, grammar, semantics, and phonology in linguistics. As the field of biomimetic design continues to evolve, the integration of natural language processing (NLP) models has become increasingly crucial. This paper explores the generalization of NLP models to enhance the semantic understanding and generative design capabilities within the context of biomimetic design education. The study concludes the following: (1) Effective use of product semantics helped students explore the value of their biomimetic designs through word formation, grammar, and semantics, enhancing AI drawing and generative design capabilities. (2) The transformative power of symbols and their meanings can achieve the integration of "internal and external" biomimetic design. (3) Utilizing the dual knowledge of denotation and connotation to extract inspiration and organize language meanings and contexts guides design. Therefore, new knowledge construction methods will be effective for learning in the face of artificial intelligence, providing new perspectives and expressions for cross-field design and design education practice.
