Purpose Over Profit In The Age of Ai: Redefining Leadership Success Through Human Excellence
Abstract
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues transforming organisations, traditional leadership models centred on profitability are proving insufficient. As AI automates technical competencies, leadership must shift toward human-centred attributes such as empathy, ethical judgment, resilience, and purpose. This paper argues that purpose-driven leadership is essential for achieving sustainable organisational success in the digital era. Drawing from coaching methodologies rooted in transition dynamics and values alignment, it introduces a model where purpose, not profit, is the basis for long-term resilience and competitive advantage.By analysing trends in leadership development and organisationalbehaviour, the paper shows that companies embedding purpose into their strategy see greater innovation, employee engagement, and differentiation. Authentic human leadership is a key driver of excellence in an increasingly automated business environment. The study concludes that cultivating purpose-centred leadership is not only ethically desirable but strategically necessary for thriving in the age of AI.
