Understanding Spiritual Intelligence and Academic Performance: A Comprehensive Study at Alborz University of Medical Sciences in 2022
Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between spiritual intelligence and academic performance among students at Alborz University of Medical Sciences during the academic year 1401 AH. By examining demographics, spiritual intelligence, and academic outcomes, the research aims to uncover meaningful correlations that extend beyond traditional academic metrics.
Methods - A total of 508 students participated in the study, representing a diverse demographic profile with a mean age of 22.81 ± 3.40 years. The sample included 55.3% female and 44.7% male students. Data on spiritual intelligence was collected, with a focus on its correlation with academic performance, specifically GPA. Statistical analyses were employed to explore the relationships between these variables, considering factors such as gender and motivation.
Results - The mean spiritual intelligence score among participants was 53.84 ± 16.68, indicating a significant level of spiritual acumen. While no substantial correlation was found between spiritual intelligence and age, a positive association with GPA was noted, suggesting that academic achievement may influence spiritual inclinations. Additionally, a significant positive correlation between GPA and overall academic performance was identified. Gender analyses revealed that motivation was a key differentiator, highlighting nuanced differences in academic engagement between male and female students.
Conclusion - The findings from Alborz University of Medical Sciences illustrate the intricate interplay between spiritual intelligence and academic performance, emphasizing the importance of holistic development in education. This study contributes to a growing body of literature advocating for a broader understanding of academic success that includes spiritual dimensions. As educational paradigms evolve, insights from this research can guide the integration of spiritual intelligence into academic frameworks.
