YOU HIT I HIT: A QUALITATIVE STUDY ON BATTERED WOMEN’S EXPRESSIONS OF RETALIATION

Abstract
Abstract - This paper presents battered women’s expressions ofretaliation.Purposive sampling method were utilized with 20 battered women living in the Philippines, age between 18 to 53 years old, with at least one child, cohabitated or married with at least one year to an abusive partner, and willing to share their experiences. Using phenomenological approach this study framedfour (4) major themes describingwomen’s expressions of retaliation namely; passive-aggressive behavior,verbally aggressive to partner, reciprocating and physically aggressing partner, and improving and empowering self and twenty two (21) subcategories.
