EXAMINING THE SOUND EFFECT ATMOSPHERE AND THE IMPACTS OF SOUND EFFECT DESIGN COMPONENTS OF POPULAR MUSIC CONCERT CULTURE

Abstract
Abstract - In this study, popular music concert will be the main target in examining the effects of sound design components on the atmosphere. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, numerous group activities and events, such as dramas, talk shows, and concerts, were required to be canceled or postponed. According to the data analyzed by the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan and the Taiwan Creative Content Agency, the revenue from performance organization and production declined from around NT$4998millionto NT$3201 million between 2020 and 2021. The pandemic has delivered a severe blow to the performing arts and negatively impacted the development of such forms of culture. Under the weight of the epidemic, however, several production firms provide the performance to viewers via an alternative medium: the online show. The initial scene effect, including visual and sound effects, cannot be shown in an online presentation; thus, the atmosphere will not be the same as viewing a live event. Survey Research is undertaken to demonstrate the sound effects, which play a significant role in regulating the ambiance of a performance. Studies are created to assess the physical response of audiences to see how sound might alter their objective feelings. This research leads us to conclude that sound is one of the most critical factors in generating atmosphere during a live event. Experiments are conducted to compared to seeing the performance without sound, listening to the music elicits a more significant physical response, and combining both parts during a concert elicits the most significant physical response. The research is based on a Taiwanese audience that has attended at least one live event, and the video used in the experiment is from a Taiwanese band. Keywords - Pop culture, Concert, Atmosphere
