ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE INDIVIDUAL AND THE ORGANIZATION

Abstract
Abstract - The paper explains the role of organizational culture in establishing the relationshipbetween an individual and the organization. The relation between an individual and the organization they work for is potentially an important performance factor, both at the organizational level and at the individual level. On the other hand, organizational culture as a set of shared values and behavioral norms determining the employees’ awareness and behavior, impacts all aspects of life and work within the organization, and hence also the interaction between an individual and the organization. The paper shows how organizational culture impact three important forms of connectedness between an individual and the organization: commitment, psychological contract, and person–organization fit.
