RETROFICATION OF A COMBUSTION VEHICLE TO CONVERT IT INTO AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE: A STUDY

Abstract
The paper presents a method followed for the conversion of a traditional ICE vehicle to an electric vehicle. The research specifically takes into ARAI guidelines and Indian laws that benefit the process. The first section deals with why only retro fitment in pure electric is chosen over hybrid or smart hybrid, the comparison is done using Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) analysis. The second section shows all the necessary parts which need to be removed from the conventional ICE vehicle. In the third section, the motor and battery selection are depending upon the weight and forces on the vehicle. The fourth section depicts the placement of the motor, motor controller, and battery in the vehicle on LS – Dyna Pre-Post software, and a comparison of center of gravity was done.
