An Etymology Reflecting Cultural Dynamism: Changes of the Linguistic and Ritual Identity of the Melkite Church in The Middle Ages

Abstract
This paper presents an evolution of the Melkite Church in the Middle Ages as an exceptional example of complexity of the linguistic, cultural and social identification of this community. The original cultural interaction of the Melkite Church with the Islamicate world brought long-term consequences (among others Arabization of Greek and Aramaic thought) for the contemporary cultural-linguistic condition of this religious group.
