Peel off Mask From Lemon Peel Essential Oil Extract Using PVA and HPMC as Viscocity Enhancer

Abstract
Lemon (Citrus limonL.) is one of plants that contains antioxidant compounds, especially lemon essential oil. Antioxidant compounds have been widely used as main ingredient in various cosmetic dosage forms, one of them is peel off mask. This research aims to design the formula preparations a peel off mask formulation from Lemon peel essential oil extract with the base contains of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Hidroxyprophyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) as a viscosity enhancer, also to measure antioxidant activity of peel off mask from Lemon peel essential oil extract using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. Peel off mask were made with 1% Lemon peel essential oil extract and 1% (F1), 2% (F2), and 3% (F3) variations of HPMC.The results showed that the use of various HPMC concentrations on peel-off masks made a significant difference (P<0.05) and also showed that peel-off mask of essential oil of lemon peel (Citrus limon L.) had moderate antioxidant activity with IC50 values for F1 is 141,535µg/ml, F2 is 139,188µg/ml, F3 is141,896µg/ml and with AAI values for F1 is0,925, F2 is 0,947, and F3 is 0,909.
