Design and Development of CNC Router

Abstract
This paper discusses the design and development of CNC router using Arduino controller(UNO R3) and open source CNC- controlling firmware Universal G-code Sender for controlling whole operation. The CNC router machine is made up of V-slots and aryclic board where the gantry is movable, while the workpiece is stationary. The spindle installed is a air-cooled type. To keep the deflection of the machine minimum, the weight of the machine should be light as well as rigid. The interfacing between the Universal G-code Sender software and hardware (Arduino and CNC shield) is done with the help of USB cable. The design of the part which need to be machined was sketched using AutoCAD software. This CNC router can be used for cutting, engraving on wood, foam, plywood and metallic sheets.
