Paper Title
Development of Domestic Salt used as Binder in Casting Process of Rice Polishing Cylinder

Abstract
The objective of this research was to develop domestic salt of Thailand used as a binder in the casting process of rice polishing cylinder in replacement of the imported magnesium chloride and to reduce the production cost of the cylinder. Salt from 3 different regions were Central Region, East Region, Northeast Region were obtained. The design of experiment analysis using the MINITAB Release 14 based on the compressive strength and tensile strength testing was conducted. According to the analysis results, it was found that the optimal proportions were imported magnesium chloride : salt from Central Region, East Region, Northeast Region equal to 50 : 50, 50 : 50 and 100 : 0, respectively. When used this formula to cast the cylinder and test the rice milling, it was found that the average broken rice percent were 30.59 and 36.44 for the cylinder contained the salt from Central Region, East Region, respectively which implied that the cylinder contained the salt from Central Region has higher efficiency than the cylinder contained the salt from East Region at 0.05 level of statistical significance. Whereas the average wear rate of cylinder from both resources were 7.22 and 7.53 g/hr, respectively. Index Terms - Binder, Salt, Casting Process, Rice Polishing Cylinder
