The Relationship Between The Narcissism of Leaders and Authoritarian Leadership

Abstract
Narcissistic leaders often express prideful and self-aggrandizing styles of leadership behavior; whether such leadership is related to authoritarian leadership or controlling juan-chiuanleadership among the Chinese remains to be examined. This study attempted to use two samples, two different types of narcissism scales, director self-evaluations, and employee evaluations to conduct a multiple-level analysis. The analytical results were significant: there was a high positive correlation between the narcissism of leaders and the two authoritarian leadership styles. The research findings can be used as the foundation for subsequent discussions of the effects of leader narcissism on subordinate behavior or be used to clarify how narcissism affects authoritarian leadership styles.
