Acehnese Students’ Ways of Addressing Efl Teachers and Its Meaning for Teachers’ Professional Identity

Abstract
This paper presents how Acehnese students addressed EFL teachers and how the teachers viewed the addressin relation to their professional identities. By using a qualitative approach, two classroom and school observations and one semi-structured interview were conducted with seven teachers in seven different schools. Data were analysed through open coding. The findings showed that most of teachers were addressed with more than one title in English or Indonesian. The teachers suggested that there were various reasons why they were addressed in certain ways by their students.
