Optimization Of Factors Affecting Multirespon Quality Using Hybrid Taguchidesign -Metaheuristic Method (Case Study: Plastic Sacks Production)

Abstract
Taguchi design is kind of Design of Experiment (DoE) which aims to improve the manufacturing process of the product to achieve a good quality. The advantages of Taguchi design is able to reduce the amount of trial in the experiment, so as to save costs, energy, and time. However, Taguchi design has the disadvantage of the optimal level combination produced only limited experimental level tested. Though there is a possibility that a more optimum results can be obtained from levels outside the experiment. Based on these drawbacks, the approach metaheuristic method is performed to find a better solution than using the Taguchi design optimization results. Results of an optimal combination of Taguchi design can also be used as an initial population on metaheuristic methods. Before optimization metaheuristic method performed, modeling the mathematical relationship between the factors and response experiments, was formed. Models are formed is used as an objective function on metaheuristic methods. These methods will be implemented on a case study of multi response optimization of production quality plastic sack in PT.X. Where there are two responses measured qualities: the level of resistance of plastic yarn (tenacity) and the degree of elasticity of the plastic yarn (elongation). Based on the results, the level combination of hybrid Taguchi design-meteheuristic method produce better composite desirability values than the results of Taguchi design.
