Paper Title
Towards A Definition Of Fundamentalism In The Usa: A New Age Of Revivalism

Abstract
As a matter of fact, trying to accommodate Christianity to the changes brought by the new ideologies, modernism, liberalism, secularism and higher biblical criticism, constituted a destructive danger to the Christian faith and ethics. To preserve and protect Christianity from this strange compromise, a reactionary movement within American Protestantism was launched by a group of gospel based conservative Christians in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries. The movement was known as fundamentalism aiming at stressing the doctrines of Christianity. This paper aims at searching the genesis and providing a framework to the definition of the movement. Keywords Fundamentalism, Christianity, prayer meeting revivals, Second Great Awakening modernism, secularism
