EFL TEACHER’S SUPPORTS AND ALTERNATIVE DIGITAL SOURCES IN FOSTERING YOUNG LEARNERS’ ENGAGEMENT IN AN ONLINE LEARNING MODE

Abstract
The Direct Method (DM) and the GrammarTranslation Method (GTM) are two of the most often-used methodologies inEnglish schools, Shah, et al. (2022). However, when learning andteaching in an online environment, the teachers are required to master both how toutilize technology and provide meaningful materials virtually. Young Learners'engagement is a key factor in determining success in teaching and learning.Therefore, teachers must be pedagogically and linguistically skilled in what to teach and how to teach mainly by providing meaningful sources toactivate young learners' engagement. Although many research found teachers getused to adapting the strategies and sources, teachers have been facing challenges inproviding relevant and sufficient online materials whichdecreases learning productivity and engagement. This research employed aqualitative grounded theory design. This method focused on collecting andanalyzing data to develop a substantive theory and reading the literaturereview from the exploration covered within the analysis that had been deduced. Thisstudy highlighted the importance of practical teacher support and proposeddigital sources to foster the engagement of young learners in an online learningenvironment. The results suggested that training programs and teachertraining for pre or in-service teachers were highly suggested. Selectivedigital sources were also imperative leading students’ engagement.
