Paper Title
Developing An Affective Awareness Learning System To Support Flipped Classroom Learning

Abstract
In flipped classrooms, students often conduct self-learning activities outside the classroom independently, necessitating appropriate guidance for effective self-learning. However, due to the lack of guidance and interaction with peers and teachers outside the classroom, students who lack motivation may experience reduced learning effectiveness. Unlike in-class situations where teachers can observe students' learning emotions and provide immediate assistance, the absence of such teacher and peer interaction during outside-class self-learning activities makes the feedback on students' learning emotions and immediate support even more crucial. In response to these challenges, this study develops an affective awareness learning system utilizing an affective computing model combined with LINE bot services. This system is designed to provide learning services based on students' learning states and emotions, thereby enhancing the interactivity and feedback on learning emotions during self-learning activities outside the flipped classroom. To assess the impact of integrating this system into flipped classrooms on student learning outcomes, a quasi-experiment was conducted. A traditional flipped classroom approach in a university software engineering course served as the control group, while a version of the course incorporating the system into a flipped classroom was the experimental group. The results indicated that the system-integrated flipped classroom approach proposed in this study effectively improved students' learning outcomes, motivation, and problem-solving abilities compared to traditional flipped classroom teaching methods. Additionally, students' learning motivation positively influenced their problem-solving skills and learning achievements, with problem-solving abilities demonstrating a positive partial mediating effect on learning motivation and achievements.
