Paper Title
ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION IN GROWING WATER-SCARCITY CONDITIONS IN SAUDI ARABIA: TOWARDNATIONAL SPATIAL AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

Abstract
Abstract - As part of the Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom of Saudi has taken efforts to improve its agricultural sector; although the agriculture production has increased, the surplus is at the cost of water overexploitation. Notably, agriculture production consumes more than 86 % of the kingdom’s water supply. This study highlights the importance of identifying the regions that are suitable as long-term agricultural hubs, where the government can funnel its scarce water resources. The regions with high concentrations of particular products can be maintained as the priority areas, whereas those with low production can be regulated through minimal support.
