Paper Title
PRIVACY POLICIES AND TOOLS EMPOWERING CITIZENS AND SOCIETY

Abstract
Abstract - In order to enable data driven business and at the same time protect citizens’ personal data, we developed a formal language for data privacy policies that can be read (and understood) by machines (or “internet services”) and humans at the same time. This language and the respective tools (e.g. a compliance checker) define rules that the service provider needs to follow if he intends to collect, store, process, or share personal data. Legal regulations may delimit those policies and thus service providers can easily get legal consent for using personal data while the citizen/user (“data subject”) maintains ownership and control over this data. The approach was implemented in three industrial pilots, one of them in Deutsche Telekom AG. The paper describes the concept, system architecture and initial evaluation results. Keywords - Privacy Technology, Policy, Society, Blockchain, Gdpr, Transparency.
