The purpose of this research article is to analyze the links within paragraphs appearing in the royal speech of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej Borommanatbophit the Great on the occasions of His Majesty's birthdays using Longacre's intra-paragraph linkage analysis (Longacre, R. 1968) as the main criteria and the criteria for linkage in Thai texts as well as the criteria of many linguists were used for the analysis, namely, the principles of the Thai language, orthography, grammar and syntax of Phraya Upakit Silpsan (1992), the principles of Thai language of Kamchai Thonglor (2002), the principles of citation classification of Somsonge Burusphat (1994), and the principles of chronological relationship reference of Cholthicha Bamroongrak (1996). In summary, there are 22 criteria in the analysis. The qualitative research methodology selects the texts of King Rama IX's royal speeches from the royal speeches and royal guidance addresses compiled by the Information Center Office of the Royal Secretariat by systematic random sampling technique. The sample size was calculated based on the texts for 10 years: 1968, 1970, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1980, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1986, and 1989, totaling 109 paragraphs and 41 pages. It was found that the links within the paragraphs appearing in the royal speeches and addresses can be divided into 2 categories: 1) There are 11 types of the use of connecting words according to the criteria, and 2) 19 types of the use of connecting words that are different from the criteria which are special features in the language use of King Rama IX.
