Paper Title
Impacts of Covid-19 Lockdown on Women in the Niger Delta

Abstract
Though the Nigerian government has eased the lockdown imposed by the increase in the number of persons infected by Covid-19, its easing has not made business bounce back as it were before the outbreak of the pandemic and has left its impacts on vulnerable groups like the women in the Niger Delta region. It is on the basis of the above that the current study investigates the impact the Covid-19 pandemic, the lockdown and the easing have on the women in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Few studies have focused on the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown on different sectors in Nigeria but none in the knowledge of the researcher has focused on its impact on the women in the Niger Delta Region. The study is both qualitative and quantitative and sampled responses from 506 women from six communities in the Niger Delta States of Delta and Bayelsa. The study reveals that business of most women in the region were affected coupled with the crippling of social activities. Hence, the study recommends that government and non-governmental palliatives be targeted at women in these categories as many of them were either not aware of the previous palliatives or did not get in the initial distributions.
