Paper Title
Enhanced Ship Energy Efficiency By Fitting Economizer on Auxilary Engine

Abstract
Nowadays energy efficiency is global concern for the maritime organization and business. Rising operating costs mainly fuel prices and stricter environments regulations are leading shipping industry to find more effective ways for designing and operating the ships in energy efficient manner. The purpose of this study is to present an example of practical solution to improve energy efficiency of large container vessel by installing exhaust gas economizer on the auxiliary diesel engines. It is known that Diesel engine for generator set has a thermal efficiency nearly 45%, up to 35% of energy is wasted to atmosphere through the exhaust gas. The heating energy needs are estimated for a sample vessel and potential of waste heat in the exhaust gas is calculated. This study will define the quantity of fuel oil will be saved by fitting heat economizer in the auxiliary engine exhaust manifold. Index terms - Exhaust Gas Economizer. Energy Efficiency. Steam. Fuel Consumption.
