Paper Title
Antimicrobial Activitiy of Some Pyrimidinium Betaines

Abstract
A series of synthesized mesoionic pyrimidinium betaines 1-4 were screened in vitro for their antimicrobial activities against both Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative Escherichia coli bacteria and three fungi; Aspergillus carbonarius , Fusarium culmorus and Mucor ramannianus using well diffusion method. Investigation of antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds demonstrated that all of the compounds displayed significant activity against the tested fungi, but their antifungal activity was different from each other. On the other hand, it was observed that the most of the tested compounds revealed moderate antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and antibacterial property was increase with higher concentration of these compounds. Keywords - Pyrimidinium betaines, Antimicrobial activity, Antibacterial activity; Antifungal activity, Well diffusion method.
