Paper Title
Electroanalysis of Chlorite At FEO/CP Nanocomposite Electrode

Abstract
Due to ever-increasing use of disinfectant agents in drinking water treatment, the detection of disinfection by-products (DBPs) is of primary importance in order to ensure the safety and quality of drinking water. Chlorine dioxide, although is the most widely used disinfection agent but its decomposition lead to the harmful DBPs such as chlorine, chlorite, chlorate, and per-chlorate. Considering the toxicity of chlorite, several number of methods have been developed for the determination of chlorite. Chlorite exposure has been reported to cause methemoglobinemia, a condition that results in the abnormal form of hemoglobin. Therefore, the minimum acceptable level of chlorite in drinking water has set by the WHO is must not exceed 1.0 mg/L. Since chlorite is potentially a carcinogenic compound, the current study describes the highly sensitive voltammetric determination of chlorite by using FeO and carbon paste (CP)nanocomposite electrode. The sensor avoids most likely interferences and provides stable and reproducible response for chlorite on FeO/CP electrode. Two real samples i.e. drinking water and tap water were successfully tested for chlorite contents by using the developed method.
